What is the difference between Payout API and DMT?
DMT (Domestic Money Transfer) is designed for retail agents helping customers send money to their family. Payout API is for businesses that need to disburse funds to their own beneficiaries — employees, vendors, agents, or customers — at scale, including bulk batches.
How do I fund my payout wallet?
You can fund your payout wallet via NEFT, RTGS, or IMPS transfer from your registered business bank account to the NTS virtual account. Wallet credit reflects within 30 minutes for NEFT and instantly for IMPS/RTGS.
Can I schedule payouts for a future date or time?
Yes. The payout API supports a scheduled_at parameter where you can pass a future ISO timestamp. The system holds the payout and executes it at the scheduled time automatically.
What happens if a payout fails after funds are debited?
If a payout is debited from your wallet but the transfer fails (wrong IFSC, closed account, etc.), the amount is automatically reversed to your wallet within 24 hours. You will also receive a webhook notification with the failure reason and UTR for reconciliation.
Is the Payout API suitable for payroll processing?
Absolutely. Our bulk payout endpoint accepts a CSV or JSON array of up to 10,000 beneficiaries per batch. It's widely used for monthly payroll runs, commission disbursements, and scholarship payments. Each recipient gets an individual UTR for their records.
How quickly can I go live with the Payout API?
After submitting your business KYC (GST certificate, bank proof, and authorised signatory ID), API credentials are issued within 4–6 hours. A full sandbox environment is available immediately for development and testing before you go live.
